Paul Prior, a good friend, who’s working in Glasgow wanted to meet up so we meet half way in Stirling. We had planned to have lunch and I had a place in mind. The Bank restaurant was recommended to me by a work colleague and it had caught my attention on Tripadvisor. They offer a fixed price lunch menu 2 courses £9.95 or 3 courses £13.50.
On the menu it states certain dishes have an additional supplement of a pound but are worth it. I took their advice and to start, had the BLACK PUDDING AND GOATS CHEESE TART wrapped in puff pastry, with house salad and mango chutney. All ingredients on the plate complimented each other and works well. Paul ordered the CHORIZO, SPINACH AND MASCARPONE RISOTTO CAKES with chipotle ketchup, crème fraiche and house salad.
For mains we both ordered the MOROCCAN STYLE MEAT BALLS with harissa, tomato, cumin, garlic and coriander, fragrant rice and flat bread. The meatballs were soft and tender and the sauce tasted good.
To finish, for dessert I opted for the DUO OF CHEESE (Mull cheddar and brie with chutney and biscuits) while Paul went for the BANOFFEE PAVLOVA with toffee sauce and whipped cream. I love my cheese but couldn’t finish the plate as I began to feel quite full.
The restaurants design is chic and contemporary with soft lighting, dark tables and chairs. The only fault was that my pint of Heineken was quite flat. Not much can be done about that if it isn’t selling. Apart from that good service, good food and good value for money, will defiantly be back again.
