The Old Tudor

I remember coming here for the very first time. We had tried all the other cafés around Auchterarder and the only place left to check out was the Old Tudor. Walking in, the décor is quite old fashioned and looking around at the other customers, it honestly felt like God’s waiting room 😯 At one point I said to myself, as I looked up “Heavenly Father, sorry but eh, I don’t think its my time yet” and wanted to turn around and walk back out! However we decided to stay, had our lunch, enjoyed it very much, became regular customers and absolutely LOVE this place! You know what they say – Never judge a book by its cover. Lucky reading is not a hobby of mine.

Whenever I came for lunch, I’d order the “Soup and sandwich combo” – £5.50. Excellent deal, great value. On one particular occasion the soup was Carrot and butterbean (changes daily) and sandwich fillings choices on offer are ham, pork, beef, chicken or turkey. It was a delicious bowl of hearty goodness with what better then a yummy pork sambo to dip in with! Sometimes if I was feeling extra hungry, (i.e. partying it up way too much the night before) I’d order an extra Club sandwich which came served with delicious piping hot chips. So hot that they sizzle when you add a splash of malt vinegar. So food porn like! They’re nice and crispy on the outside and have a soft, fluffy centre. I’d say hands down the best chips I’ve ever had so far.

Its a family business and I always feel welcomed here. Before stepping into the place I’m already smiling as I know I’m about to have great banter with the charming, cheerful chatty Lindsey. She should be a national Scottish tourist attraction! Simple customer service skills and tasty reasonably priced grub from the lovely staff kept me coming back. Can’t wait to visit again next time I’m back in town.
